On April 17, PEUGEOT presented the new graphic design of the PEUGEOT 9X8 Hypercar at Milan Design Week: an exceptional event combining art and technology. This original creation was created in collaboration with the Spanish artist J. Demsky, who has left his unique mark on the entire graphic universe of the PEUGEOT 9X8

An exceptional collaboration with an inspired artist
Demsky, an eclectic Spanish artist, evolves in a modern artistic universe while drawing his inspiration from the 90s: his art speaks to a whole generation and his graphic signature is unique.

By 2035, it will no longer be possible to sell new combustion vehicles in the European Union.

So it is true that today an electric vehicle still costs more to buy than a combustion vehicle (for a model equivalent in power and finish). However, this price difference is constantly decreasing: very short-term forecasts indicate a similar price for both engines.

So it is true that today an electric vehicle still costs more to buy than a combustion vehicle (for a model equivalent in power and finish). However, this price difference is constantly decreasing: very short-term forecasts indicate a similar price for both engines.

In addition, to support the switch to clean mobility, European governments provide subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, such as the conversion premium and the ecological bonus in France and Germany, for example. There is also specific support from local authorities.

For consumption

The real cost of a car is not limited to its purchase price, but also includes the savings made over the medium term. For example, the cost of recharging is about €2/100 km, which is three times less than the cost of fuel (petrol and diesel). The electric vehicle is therefore more profitable.

To maintenance

In addition, maintenance costs half as much as for combustion engine cars. This is because electric cars, which are essentially made up of electronic components, do not require much maintenance: no oil changes, no spark plugs or timing belts to change…

CLICHÉ N° 2 : BATTERY LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR LONG JOURNEYS

Today, the range of electric cars is 300 km on average, and easily exceeds 500 km for top-of-the-range models. This means that all-electric cars can be driven perfectly well over long distances. Moreover, the network of recharging stations is becoming more widespread, and in the future there will be a recharging station every 100 km on the motorway. These fast charging stations provide a range of around 250 km for a charging time of around 30 minutes.

In addition, the new generation battery and regenerative braking of PEUGEOT electric vehicles allow you to travel up to 400 km on a single charge.

CLICHÉ N° 3 : RECHARGING IS COMPLICATED BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT MANY CHARGING STATIONS

330,000: this is the number of fast charging stations available on the entire network in Europe. New stations are regularly installed, so the network is constantly expanding. In addition, thanks to adapted technologies such as the eSolution Charging application, you have easy access to the largest network of charging stations in Europe.

In addition, Peugeot, in partnership with Free2Move eSolutions, offers a professional installation service for the WallBox in private homes.

CLICHÉ N° 4 : RECHARGING TAKES TOO LONG

Not true! It all depends on the charging solution you choose.

For example, at a public fast charge point, it will take you about 1.5 hours, with a charging power of between 100 kW and 50 kW, to recharge the battery of your Peugeot e-208 to 100%!

For home recharging, using a simple electrical outlet, it is true that recharging can take a long time. But there are now more powerful systems that can reduce the charging time considerably. For example: with a WallBox plug, it will take only 4 hours to recover 80% of autonomy (compared to 25 hours with a domestic plug).

CLICHÉ N° 5 : ELECTRICITY IS NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

Recharging

It should be noted that recharging an electric car at home represents the same consumption as a water heater. Nothing spectacular! To compensate for this additional demand for electricity, specialists are thinking of other realistic ways, such as intelligent management of charging stations and night-time charging, which we already do for the use of household appliances, for example.

Battery recycling

It is estimated that on average, for an electric car that is driven 20,000 km/year, the battery has a life of 10 to 15 years. This is longer than the average life of a combustion engine vehicle. After its life cycle in an electric car, the battery is reused and then recycled at 50% or even 90% so that the raw materials it contains are reused. The battery can also be used to store renewable energy. Finally, the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries no longer requires rare earths and the materials are sourced from mines that are subject to strict regulations.

The ecological impact

Over the lifetime of the electric vehicle, the carbon footprint of an electric car is 4 times lower than that of a combustion engine model. If you add to this the development of green electricity, you guarantee a reduction in your overall environmental impact.

CLICHÉ N° 6 : AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE IS NOT FUN TO DRIVE

On the contrary, driving an electric vehicle is a new and very pleasant experience!

  • Acceleration power: Thanks to the engine's power and torque, the e-208 takes just 8.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
  • Silence: the electric vehicle does not produce vibrations and the electric motor is silent. This considerably reduces noise pollution and provides the driver with considerable comfort and peace of mind.
  • A smooth, seamless ride without shifting gears, ideal for traffic jams and city traffic.
  • Agile and intuitive driving with the Peugeot i-Cockpit 3 D.
  • No unpleasant odours from fuel and combustion.

In addition, the electric vehicle is not subject to traffic restrictions and, in some cities, parking is free.
